How we research
- Specs come from primary sources. Manufacturer spec sheets, regulatory filings and certification listings first. Where a figure only exists in marketing copy, we say so.
- Estimates are labelled as estimates. Anything carrying a Projected or Unconfirmed badge is our modelling, not a quote. Delivered-cost ranges assume typical US freight, crane, site work, utilities and permits — your site will differ.
- Certification is ranked above price. A cheap unit that your county will not permit as a dwelling is not a cheap house. We sort for that first, everywhere.
- Rankings are derived from catalog data. Placement on our "best" and alternatives pages cannot be bought, and no manufacturer reviews our pages before publication.
- We correct in public. If a manufacturer or reader shows us a figure is wrong, we change it and note the change.
How we make money
When you submit a quote request, we may pass your enquiry to relevant manufacturers or their distributors and may be compensated for that introduction. That relationship never determines rankings, verdicts or which drawbacks we publish — the drawbacks sections on our best-performing pages are the proof of that.
